Director of Programming & Operations

Emily is a triplet, and was fortunate to grow up with incredible siblings, family, and friends who pushed her to explore the environment around her. Her adolescence showed her that sometimes you don’t have to go very far to find something amazing. Growing up she loved hiking, tubing down the river, going on bike rides, and going to the beach. Emily also plays three instruments, the guitar, the banjo, and the ukulele. Her adventures inspired her love for the outdoors and learning about the world around her, which eventually led her to where she is today in the field of Outdoor and Experiential Education.

Since graduating college in 2019, Emily has taught as an Outdoor Educator in California and Cape Cod. She has also worked as a Special Education Tutor during COVID at an Elementary School in Connecticut! She spent 2022-23 traveling to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii, and Thailand teaching, learning, and doing service work alongside groups of students in each of the places we were fortunate enough to visit. Her happy places are the beach and any beautiful space in nature. Now Emily is excited to be in Boston for the year and explore places closer to home!

She’s now a rising senior, also pursuing a minor in Hispanic Studies and a concentration in Children, Adolescents, and Schools. Between designing and leading summer day camps, volunteering with an after-school futsal and youth-development focused organization, helping to kickstart the Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit, and working as a tutor and classroom assistant in different schools, Rachel enjoys seeking opportunities to work with, empower, and learn from youth. Rachel is excited to do just that as part of the Elevate Youth team this summer, while also sharing her love of the outdoors and striving to make outdoor education and exploration more accessible to all.
